ONE FORMULA, ONE ANSWER

Ideal mixture bubble-point pressure calculator

Calculate the total pressure at the onset of boiling in an ideal liquid solution from liquid composition and pure-component vapor pressures at a common temperature. Choose input units and calculate one value within the stated conditions.

Inputs

Liquid components and pure-component vapor pressures at the same temperature

Minimum entries 1 · Maximum entries 100

Entry 1

Fraction from 0 to 1

Zero or greater

Entry 2

Fraction from 0 to 1

Zero or greater

Entries: 2

Calculations run in this browser. Scientific notation such as 1.2e-3 is supported. Do not group thousands.

Result

Total bubble-point pressure P

Enter values and select Calculate.

FORMULA

P = Σ(xᵢpᵢ*); Σxᵢ = 1

Assumptions

Required: all vapor pressures evaluated at the same temperature, ideal liquid and vapor phases, and vapor-liquid equilibrium. Excluded: activity-coefficient corrections, fugacity corrections and chemical reaction. A nonvolatile component may use zero vapor pressure. Liquid mole fractions must sum to 1; rounding differences up to 1e-10 are accepted and normalized. Enter liquid composition, rather than vapor composition.

Displayed values are floating-point approximations. Design safety factors and unprovided error contributions are not calculated.
