ONE FORMULA, ONE ANSWER
Hall Voltage Calculator
Calculate signed Hall voltage for a flat sample with a single carrier type. Choose input units and calculate one value within the stated conditions.
Inputs
Calculations run in this browser. Scientific notation such as 1.2e-3 is supported. Do not group thousands.
Result
Hall voltage V_H = V(−y)−V(+y)
Enter values and select Calculate.
V_H = IB/(nqt)
Assumptions
Required: uniform single-carrier transport, a Hall factor of one and classical linear Hall response. Current is defined along +x, magnetic field along +z and thickness along z. Output polarity is V(−y)−V(+y). Use q = −e for electrons or q = +e for holes; the carrier sign changes the result. Excluded: multiple carrier types, anomalous Hall response, magnetoresistance and contact-position errors.
Displayed values are floating-point approximations. Design safety factors and unprovided error contributions are not calculated.
