ONE FORMULA, ONE ANSWER
Faraday Polarization Rotation Calculator
Calculate Faraday polarization rotation in a uniform longitudinal magnetic field. Choose input units and calculate one value within the stated conditions.
Inputs
Calculations run in this browser. Scientific notation such as 1.2e-3 is supported. Do not group thousands.
Result
Signed single-pass rotation angle θ
Enter values and select Calculate.
θ = V B∥ L
Assumptions
Required: L≥0 and signed V and B∥. The SI units are rad/(T·m) for V and T for B∥. Use mutually consistent sign conventions for the measured Verdet constant and the field component along propagation. Assume a homogeneous linear medium with constant V at the specified wavelength, temperature and field range. The result is the accumulated single-pass rotation without folding into 180°. Excluded: round trips, cavities, absorption and magnetic saturation. No material-property database is included.
Displayed values are floating-point approximations. Design safety factors and unprovided error contributions are not calculated.
