ONE FORMULA, ONE ANSWER

Drag Force Calculator

Check a drag load using a known wind-tunnel drag coefficient. Choose input units and calculate one value within the stated conditions.

Inputs

Zero or greater

Greater than zero after conversion to SI

Calculations run in this browser. Scientific notation such as 1.2e-3 is supported. Do not group thousands.

Result

Drag force D

Enter values and select Calculate.

FORMULA

D = C_D ρ V² A / 2

Assumptions

Use C_D,V≥0 and ρ,A>0. Match the reference area, Reynolds number, Mach number and geometry used to define the drag coefficient. Geometry alone does not determine the coefficient.

Displayed values are floating-point approximations. Measurement uncertainty and design safety factors are not calculated.
