Donald Trump created a $1.8 billion slush fund to pay off January 6 insurrectionists with YOUR tax dollars. In California those dollars will now be taxed at 100%. We don't reward attacks on our democracy.

The Constitution barely survived today. By a 5-4 vote, Trump’s Supreme Court declined to let him rewrite the Constitution and end birthright citizenship. We’re hanging on by a thread. The fight to defend our democracy is far from over.

Here's a myth: you have to choose between fiscal discipline and doing big things. California does both. Over the past eight years, we built great things for the people of California, some of the boldest actions any government in this country has taken in a generation, and we did it without breaking the bank. Today, I signed my final budget as Governor of California. It’s on time, balanced, and structurally sound through June of 2028. For the next two years, California will have a zero-dollar deficit.
