@otis9usa @Rainmaker1973 Inter-satellite lasers are currently only used if the satellite cannot see the user terminal and ground station simultaneously. Over ocean, it’s all lasers. Future software upgrades will evaluate whether lowest latency is via immediately going to a ground station or traversing

@Rainmaker1973 Except for Starlink, which communicates via space lasers. Light travels ~40% faster in vacuum than fiber optics and on a more direct path, rather than following the outline of continents, so Starlink will be much faster over time than ocean cables. This is important.
