This is absolutely disgusting. This bigoted garbage and antisemitism should be nowhere near our politics. If you’re in TX-35, vote for @johnnygarciatx. And the donors behind the Republican super PAC funding her should be exposed.

Happy to! A lot of CEOs and Silicon Valley folks take commentary like this so personally and from such a moralizing and judgement frame, but it’s really about systems. Our current economic outcomes speak for themselves - we are in a time of record inequality and more working people than ever are struggling. It’s more expensive than ever to have a home, go to the doctor, and feed one’s kids. People (rightfully) talk all the time about the corruption of our political system and I don’t take those critiques personall - it’s true! What matters is what choices we make knowing that and how we want to make a better world.

Once again, it’s not about individual morality. People’s personal sense defensiveness about this is making them blind to the point. It’s really not about punishment. When you care step into a community that’s been ravaged by total lack of protections - say, Puerto Rico, the perspective shifts. I don’t blame Airbnb. They are exploiting the landscape. I do blame things like Act 60.

In the state of Nevada alone, Tesla is one of the corporations that ranks *highest* in Medicaid costs, which is another form of public assistance program. That’s on top of the $330 million they’ve already received in state public dollar tax incentives. rgj.com/story/news/money/bus…

Thank you, @ReverendWarnock, for welcoming me to Ebenezer Baptist Church today. As legislatures across the South seek to draw Black Americans out of power, we gathered this Sunday to steel ourselves for the work ahead. We will always stand together, and we will not go back.

Someone can certainly *make* a billion dollars. That’s not the same thing as earning. Growing fast and disrupting markets also often means chasing and wielding market power, political influence, and scale. Take Airbnb. They heavily lobby politicians against passing housing laws to protect working class residents because it’s bad for their business model. Airbnb could not exist at its current scale and size without the housing market destabilizations, displacements, and exploits that are supercharging the evictions of working people everywhere from Puerto Rico to Jackson Hole. Now young people are planning for a future where they will never be able to afford to own a home while others have 20 and live off renting it out to them at extortionate rates with zero protections. Yes, a tiny a…

Hey there! It’s the first. This is at a mosque, where we were invited by the congregation to speak before prayer. In this context, head coverings are the respectful move. One of the fun parts of being a rep for NYC is learning different customs for so many communities. Cheers!

The single largest form of theft in America is wage theft. $50 billion a year are stolen from American workers. If a billionaire amasses their wealth by underpaying their full-time workers so severely that they must rely on food assistance and government programs to survive, then no, that wealth was not earned by one individual - it was a wealth transfer subsidized by underpaid American workers and the public who get stuck with the bill for large corporations free-riding off our systems. The point is less about individual morality. It’s more about how our current economic reality of shattering inequality rewards screwing over workers and exploiting essential systems at scale. We’re talking monopoly power. Rent-seeking. Wage theft. Profiteering. Stock buybacks. Destabilizing housing mar…
